The Dos and Don'ts For Bulking Up

DO

  • Start off with a weight that is comfortable for you to lift. You want to lift an amount of weight that isn’t so heavy that it’ll hurt you or keep you from being able to finish the amount of reps you wanted to do, but is heavy enough that it’ll challenge you throughout your workout.  Over time you can increase the amount of weight you are lifting.
  • Make sure you have good form. If your form is good then you can be sure that you are performing the workout correctly without hurting yourself.
  • Eat foods that will benefit you. It is important that you are eating healthy to give your body what it will need to give you the energy to workout
  • Take rest days

DON’T

  • Avoid lifting weights too light. You won’t see any progress lifting weights that barely take any effort.
  • Also avoid weights that are way too heavy. This will probably cause you to have a bad form while performing the workout and you can also hurt yourself this way.
  • Avoid rushing through the workout. This can lead to not maintaining your form throughout the workout which can injury you.
  • Avoid over doing it to the point where you are so sore you are unable to do anything for the next few days.
